Waive off water, power tariff and interest on Kisan Credit Cards Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar appeals LG

Former Member of Legislative Assembly and Senior Leader National Conference from Ganderbal Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar has urged the Lt Governor to waive off the water and electricity bills in view of coronavirus.

Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar today visited (Condolence visit) to Chanthan, Waliwar, Chountwaliwar and other areas. He met with the family members and offered his condolences who died during this lockdown period.

During the (condolence) visit people of the area demanded wave off electricity , water fee and interest on Kisan Credit Cards to BPL and AAY categories.

Ishfaq assured the people he will raise the issue with Governor Admintration and said that almost all sections of the society have been economically hit due to the Corona pandemic, the Govt needed to show compassion and provide special succour particularly to the financially distressed poor and marginalized sections of the society.

Mr Jabbar asked government to come up with concrete relief measures for a larger section of the society whose livelihood has got affected by restrictions imposed by the authorities in view of Coronavirus outbreak in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that on one hand such restrictions are the need of the hour to tackle the spread of this deadly disease while on the other hand government should also give relief to the labourers, farmers, small traders, self employed, taxi transport and auto operators, who have been worst affected due to lengthy lockdown and there is no source of earnings during the last more than two months.

He said, with the poor sections having exhausted all their savings, they were finding it hard to make both ends meet while at the same time having to pay various kinds of cesses and tariffs.

Ishfaq also said that fruit growers in the region also suffered huge dent who were unable to pluck their crops on time and transport it to other parts of country.

He urged upon central and state governments to announce waive-off water and electricity bills for the people who are affected due to restrictions and would get a sigh of relief in the hour of crisis.

He also demanded that loans on KCC should be waved off instantly as a measure to provide relief to the community”, Jabbar added.
