Coming down heavily on those who are always questioning what UT of J&K got post abrogation of Article 370, BJP J&K Executive Member Raman Suri said, they all must know that not only all Central laws are extended to the UT and J&K is brought at par with rest of the country, but the enhancement of Post Graduation seats in medical education has also come as a major relief and support for our students. This is being done to make J&K self-reliant and enhance the healthcare facilities.
Raman Suri said BJP-led Government at the Centre is sensitive enough to understand needs of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, which is why the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, on the recommendations of Medical Council of India (MCI), has increased the PG (MD/MS) seats in three premiere health institutions of Jammu and Kashmir– Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, GMC Srinagar and Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura, by 67.
He added that this move will strengthen various departments including Anaesthesiology, General Surgery, Pathology, Radio-Diagnosis, Paediatrics, Physiology, Anatomy, Community Medicine,ImmunoHaematology&Blood Transfusion,Pharmacology, and Microbiology. These additional specialists will be a great workforce in thehealth department looking after healthcare facilities across Jammu and Kashmir.
The BJP leader said the way our doctors and paramedical staff are fighting the war against COVID-19, we must appreciate their efforts and now that more workforce will be added to their strength, we in J&K UT will be self-sufficient to deal with any situation and ailment. This decision is a boost to the medical education as UT will also be getting financial aid to upgrade our health departments.
Raman Suri added that Union Government is also appreciative of the way we, in UT of J&K, handled COVID-19 cases and this is the reason that the future of J&K’s health care system is going to be bright in terms of infrastructure as well as manpower besides upgraded facilities and better hospitals systems.
