COVID-19: J&K records eight death as 20 more test positive, tally at 566

 Elderly woman from Srinagar, who tested positive yesterday only, succumbed to Covid infection in a Srinagar hospital even as 20 more people tested positive for the deadly virus on Tuesday. The total tally in J&K has mounted to 566 with eight deaths.

Officials said that ten cases were tested positive at SKIMS Laboratory while as ten more were tested positive at CD hospital. Among them, 08 are from Anantnag, 05 are from Baramulla, 04 from Shopian, 02 from Pulwama and one from Kupwara.

Dr G H Yatoo, Nodal officer for covid-19 at SKIMS told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that out of 630 samples tested on Tuesday, 10 were found positive for the Covid.

“Five of the new cases are from Zandfaran, Botengo, Kanlbagh and Kakkar Hamam villages of Baramulla, four are from Hirpora Shopian and one from Gonipora Kupwara, and among the new Covid-19 patients three are minors,” He said adding that three among them are minors.

Dr Salim Khan Nodal officer for covid-19 at GMC Srinagar told KNO that out of 377 samples tested on Tuesday, 10 were tested positive, among them 8 are from Anantnag while as 2 are from Pulwama.

He further added that on Tuesday 689 samples were received while as results of 180 samples are awaited. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir witnessed eight Covid-19 death on Tuesday after an elderly woman died at Chest Diseases Hospital. Officials said that the 80-year-old woman of Rainawari Srinagar was admitted to CD Hospital on Monday after testing positive for Covid-19 there.

“She breathed her last on Tuesday afternoon after her condition deteriorated. She was having other co-morbidities including hypertension and diabetes,” they said.

In J&K, the first death due to the Coronavirus was reported on 26 March from Sopore, second on March 29 from Tangmarg and third from Bandipora on 07 April, fourth on April 8 from Udhampur, 5th on April 17 from Sopore, 6th on 25 April a 72 year old man from tangmarg, 7th on 25 April, a pregnant lady from kokernag

As per the COVID bulletin, Bandipora is topping the list of positive cases in Kashmir with 127 cases. “Srinagar has 86, Shopian 71,  Bramulla 72, Anantnag 62,  Kupwara 49, Ganderbal 14, Budgam 15, Kulgam 6, and Pulwama 5,” the bulletin reads.

In Jammu region, the bulletin reads that Jammu has 26 cases,  Udhampur 20,  Samba 4, Rajouri 4, Kathua 1, Kishtwar 1 and Ramban 1. “The total number of positive cases in J&K are 565 of which 381 are active cases. 167 people have recovered and eight people have died so far,” the bulletin reads.

It states that 66977 people have been enlisted for observation while as 6364 have been kept under home quarantine. “381 people are in hospital isolation and 255 are under hospital quarantine. Surveillance of 52172 people have been completed. 9082 persons are under home surveillance,” the bulletin reads
