Jammu and Kashmir: 5 army martyrs, 5 militants also killed in an encounter in Kupwara

 

An encounter between intruders and security forces took place on Saturday in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir.

In this fierce encounter, five army soldiers were martyred. Five terrorists have also been killed in the encounter. This group of terrorists was trying to infiltrate across the Line of Control in Keran Sector of North Kashmir. During this, an army soldier was killed on the spot, while 4 soldiers were injured. The four soldiers were immediately evacuated and admitted to the hospital.

During the treatment, the first two soldiers were martyred. After this, two more soldiers were martyred late at night. The army had told on Sunday that there was a lot of trouble in evacuating the injured soldiers as the road is very bumpy and the roads are closed at many places due to heavy snowfall.

Officials said that the terrorists were believed to have entered Indian territory from the Shamsbury range and were hiding in a ‘Gurjar Dhok’ (temporary shelter of nomads) in the Poswal area of ​​the sector. On Wednesday, the terrorists crossed the LoC and entered the territory of India. These terrorists managed to infiltrate the LoC by taking advantage of bad weather and fog.
