Not to take teachers for granted”, appeals Ms. Slathia

An urgent meeting of the All Teachers Association J&K was held under the chairpersonship of Ms. Mrignayani Slathia President, All Teachers Association J&K along with General Secretary Sh. Dewan Chand. In the meeting the burning issue of havoc wrecked by the Noval Corona Virus (COVID-19) was discussed. In the meeting the participants welcomed the steps been taken by the UT administration to contain the spread of Corona Virus. Ms. Slathia acclaimed the government for taking right steps at right time in fight against the deadly Corona Virus. It is due to wise and timely decision of the government that the Corona Virus has been   unable to show much deadly effect that it has shown in most of the foreign countries.

Ms. Mrignayani Slathia also welcomed the decision of the government whereby the teachers have been asked to stay at home by the government. She said the All Teachers Association J&K had been approaching various government authorities for drawing the attention of the government towards the risk to which the teaching community was being exposed by the government. She said that all the educational activities in the schools had been suspended yet the teachers were being made to attend the schools without there being any logic. She said that the teachers had to undertake long distance journeys to attend their schools and as such they were exposed to threat of contacting Corona Virus during travel. She said that since no fruitful and unavoidable work was being taken from the teaching community, they should not have been forcibly exposed to threat of contracting Corona Virus unreasonably by making them to attend schools particularly when the holidays had been announced for the students.

Ms. Mrignayani demanded that evaluation of the answer sheets of the examination conducted by the J&K State Board of School Education should also be put on hold keeping in view the high risk of transmission of Corona Virus through answer sheets and otherwise also.

“The teachers are ready to volunteer themselves for any kind of fruitful duties assigned to them during this hour of emergency. But unless and until the teachers are assigned any specific task to deal with the present situation, they should be restrained from attending their duties in order to prevent community transfer of Corona Virus. “These nation-builders must not be taken for granted.” appeals Ms. Slathia to Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, G.C.Murmu.

All the members of the Association present at the meeting vowed to give all support to the administration in war against Corona Virus.

The prominent apex members  who shared their  views in the meeting were Upasana, Mir Niyaz, Ritu ,  Ameena Akhtar, Nazarana , Surinder.Monika,Rakesh,Sanjeev,Vishal,Ashok.
