In continuation to various measures taken to keep people of Kishtwar safe from Coronavirus threat, District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Rajinder Singh Tara today held a press conference at DC office Kishtwar and appealed to the public to avoid spreading of rumors about COVID-19.
While briefing the media, he appealed to the public as well as the people active in the social media groups neither to spread nor to respond to any rumors about the corona cases without any confirmation of the same from district administration as it could spread panic among the masses and also can cause victimisation of the Persons at psychological and social level.

He further assured the public that no corona case has been confirmed in the district so far although as a precautionary measure those with foreign travel history are kept in quarantine facilities as well as are kept under surveillance.
He further appealed to the public of Kishtwar to follow the Do’s and Don’ts regarding to curb the spreading COVID-19 as this would be the excellent piece of cooperation from their part in preventing any infections.
While addressing to the media persons, he reiterated that the role of media at this time is very vital in spreading awareness and sensitizing the masses about the corona.
DDC sought their help to bring the rumor mongers in the notice of the authorities and assured that action as warranted under law shall be taken against the culprits.
He further briefed the media persons that district administration has taken a lot of precautionary measure to restrict spread of Corona Virus like establishment of 24×7 control room at DC office Kishtwar, hyper-activating the screening and sanitization check points at entrance points of Thatri and Paddar to avoid entry from foreign countries or other states, formations of the district and block level surveillance teams for close monitoring, establishment of isolation and quarantine facilities at District Hospital and various other places of district, imposition of section 144 of CrPC, arranging for public announcements from religious places, banning the unnecessary social, politically and cultural congregations, invoking of Disaster Management Act 2005, closure of schools, educational institutions, gyms, hotel and wine shops etc.
