Educated youth treated most shabbily by the present regime: Harsh

Accusing the present regime at the centre as well as the UT of doling out the most contemptuous and shabby treatment to the educated youth of J&K, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP Chairman and former Minister  said that the govt was invariably miscalculating the intensity of raging tempers amongst the teeming unemployeds. He said that with not a single post having been advertised during the past seven months after August 5, the educated unemployeds were the most disappointed and disturbed lot. “The youth were feeling betrayed as not only had all recruitment been stopped after conversion of state into UT but several working youths had been disengaged and shown the doors. Besides the already advertised posts too had been withdrawn thereby shutting all channels of absorption for the aspiring eligible youth”, regretted Singh. He was addressing a press conference in Jammu today.

Pointing towards the rollback of Saakshar Bharat Mission (SBM), Mr. Singh claimed that more than 5000 youth employed in J&K had been rendered Jobless. He divulged that the said youth had been working for over 10 years under SBM scheme as Panchayat co-ordinators, Block co-ordinators and District co-ordinators for educating adults especially women but had been shown the doors thereby treating them as ‘disposables’. Recalling the statement of Union Home Minister, made after conversion of state into UT, that two youth would be appointed in each Panchayat on fast track basis, Mr. Singh regretted those already in service were also terminated.

Mr. Harsh Dev Singh further castigated the govt for cancellation of the selections process for recruitment of Bank Pos and Banking associates in which around 145000 candidates had appeared with the entire process having been completed. He further flayed the govt for withdrawal of 790 class-IV posts that were earlier announced to be filled by selection committees to be headed by both Div Coms. He said that while withdrawing the posts the govt order pointed out that the same shall be re-submitted to Finance Deptt for its concurrence thereby consigning the said posts to the cold storage. Earlier also, the only 33 posts advertised after August 5 by the J&K High Court were also withdrawn after having been notified.

While the tall talk of the BJP govt of creating 50,000 new Jobs immediately after states re-organization and their fast track filling proved a hoax, the normal recruitment too had been stopped by the present regime thereby creating massive uproar and discontent amongst the educated youth.

Not only that the continuance of SRO-202 and false commitments of regularization with temporary employees had further aggravated the tensions which could explode in a big way. He strongly condemned the issuance of show cause notices to those underemployed who sought the revocation of SRO-202 and described the govt. move as draconian. Cautioning the govt to refrain from playing with the sentiments of educated unemployed, Mr. Singh said that any further disregard for their aspirations could lead to dangerous portends.

Mr. Surinder Chouhan, District President Jammu (Rural)-JKNPP, Mr. Parshotam Parihar, State Secretary-PTU and Mr. Gurdeep Singh Raju, Jammu District Urban Secretary-JKNPP were also present in the press conference.
