One dies in stampede in Delhi ‘s Batla area after rumours of fresh violence; Police detains people

 

Even as Delhi Police on Sunday night managed to control the situation in the wake of rumours being spread of fresh violence in the city, a 32-year-old man is stated to have died in a stampede in Batla area. The man from Bihar’s Bhagalpur, Habibullah, fainted near a mosque and was admitted to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead, according to sources.

In the wake of false rumours spread by some people, the police detained a few in this regard, while requesting people not to panic and appealed to them to maintain peace and calm.

The Delhi Police on Sunday asked people not to believe in any rumours regarding tensions in Sangam Vihar, Ambedkar Nagar, Hauz Rani and any other area, stating that all officers are alert and patrolling.
