Jammu Inferno: Fire fighter killed, two buried under debris, six injured

A fire fighter was killed and two were buried under debris as a three-storied building collapsed after a major fire engulfed it on Wednesday morning.
Six people suffered injuries in the incident.
“One of our fire fighters died while two of them are still buried under the debris,” an official of Fire and Emergency Services said.
Superintendent of Police North Jammu, P D Nitya here told UNI, “So far there are reports of one death and two people are still trapped.”
She said that six persons are injured and have been admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu.
One of the deceased fire fighters was identified as Vimal Raina, 32, son of Manohar Krishan Raina of Janipur, posted in Roop Nagar fire station.
Body has been shifted to the mortuary for post-mortem.
The injured were Head Constable Puran Singh,55, son of Gain Singh, resident of Pallawalla, Head Constable Sat Pal,55, son of Krishan Lal of Suderbani, Lokesh,44, son of Krishan Lal, resident of Tallab Tilloo, Amit,26, son of Ramesh, resident of Talab Tillo, Gurpreet Singh,30, son of Davinder Singh, resident of Talab Tillo and Rahil,28, son of Ravi Kant, resident of Talab Tillo
Earlier, Director General Fire and Emergency Services had said, “Three of our men are buried under the debris and the rescue operation is on.
Mr Singh said the building collapsed due to fire and added, “Fire tenders were pressed into service and our men are on job.”
“A fire broke out at around 0515 hrs in a wooden kiosk at Gole Puli in Talab Tillo area,” an official of Fire and Emergency Services said.
He said the inferno spread wildly due to wooden logs at the stall and a three-storied building also collapsed in the fire
Over a dozen fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames, which are out of control while operation was in progress.
