Train services again suspended in Kashmir for security reasons

Train services were again suspended on Tuesday for security reasons in Kashmir valley, where life was affected due to strike on the 36th death anniversary of JKLF founder Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, who was hanged in Delhi’s Tihar jail on this day in 1984.
”We have suspended all train runs in the valley after an advisory was received from divisional administration and police,” official sources told UNI.
They said railway department was acting on the advice of local administration since safety and security of the passengers and railway staff and property was necessary.
Therefore, they said no train would run on Srinagar-Badgam and Baramulla in north Kashmir track.
Similarly, they said train services would also remain suspended on Badgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region.
The service was on Sunday suspended for a day due to strike on the seventh death anniversary of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, who was hanged in Delhi’s Tihar jail on this day in 2013.
After August 5, when Centre scrapped Article 370 and 35 A and divided the state into two Union Territories (UTs), train service remained suspended for security reasons for about 100 days.
Train service has become very popular in Kashmir valley as it is economical, safe and fast against other mode of transport available to people.
