BJP cheating people over domicile law: Harsh

Lambasting the BJP for its flip-flop over the issue of domicile law for J&K, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP Chairman and former Minister today said that highly incongruous and contradictory statements made by its leadership had created huge embitterment in the hearts and minds of the people especially the youth. He revealed that BJP leadership was taking one stand while addressing the public gatherings but issuing exactly opposite statements during the course of Parliamentary proceedings. He was referring to the reply of G.Kishan Raddy in Parliament on 4th February in response to a question by Sh. Natrajan M.P, wherein the Union MoS Home had categorically stated that “as on date, the government has not taken any decision regarding domicile law in J&K”. He was addressing a press conference in Jammu today.

Mr. Harsh Dev Singh said that the statement of the Union MoS denying any such proposal for domicile law in J&K had exposed the BJP leadership yet again for its treacherous politics. The cat which has been mewing for long has been finally let out of the bag by no other than the BJP govt itself. The Parliament reply has falsified the lofty claims repeatedly made by central and state BJP leaders as well as the UT administration that a Domicile law was in the offing and that Home Ministry was shortly issuing a notification in this regard. He said that it was not the first time that Union Home Ministry had denied any such proposal as in the previous session of Parliament also held in December last, it had made similar statement in the Lok Sabha.

Accusing the BJP leadership of skulduggery and deceptive politics, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh cautioned the saffron party to refrain from taking the people of J&K for granted. “Don’t play with the sentiments of the people over sensitive issues. The educated unemployed youth has been eagerly awaiting the enactment of an appropriate legislation so as to safeguard their interests in the new set up. And you had been persistently assuring and re-assuring them of early action with repeated media statements of all necessary formalities having been completed in this regard. The Union Ministry has however spilled the beans yet again and exposed the loudmouthed, deceitful BJP leaders in their true colours”, observed Singh.

“Double standards of BJP leadership have come to fore on several occasions in its dealing with J&K affairs which seems to e the last priority for the present regime at the centre. It has been promising early delimitation for quite some time without actually committing itself to it. It has often been talking of holding Assembly elections in the erstwhile state and subsequently retracting from its statements. It has been assuring of extending the provisions of 73rd and 74th Amendment of the constitution to J&K without taking any initiative in this regard. And it has been harping on ending bias against Jammu while at the same time announcing mega freebies and doles for Kashmir. It’s, in fact, moving in fits and starts, accompanied by reverses which could prove counterproductive aspiration”, said Singh. He added that any further disregard for the narcissistically pleased saffron brigade” of people could land the highly ascendant and arrogant BJP leadership in trouble as the patience of the people was fast running out.

Mr. Gagan Pratap Singh State Secretary JKNPP and Mr. Surinder Chouhan District President Jammu (Rural) of JKNPP were also present in the press conference.
