Pak violates ceasefire in Gurez, Tanghdar; 1 soldier injured

A soldier was on Sunday injured when Pakistani troops violated ceasefire and resorted to indiscriminate shelling and firing at forward posts in border town of Gurez and Tandghar sectorin north Kashmir.

Official sources told UNI that Pak troops resorted to unprovoked shelling and firing, targeting forward posts and civilian areas at Bakhtoor in Gurez, which is surrounded by Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) from three sides on Sunday.

“A soldier, identified as Sandeep Yadav, was injured in the shelling in Gurez in Bandipora. The wounded soldier was immediately taken to a hospital, where his health condition is stated to be stable,” they said.

They said Pakistani troops opened another front in Tanghdar sector in Kupwara, when they resorted to indiscriminate firing and shelling on Sunday. “There was no report of any injury in the sector,” they added.

They said appropriate response was given by Indian soldiers in both the areas.

However, the damage suffered by Pak troops was not immediately known.
