Fuel conservation awareness campaign launched in Jammu city

 Secretary, Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), P K Pole today launched a month long mass awareness campaign about importance of oil and fuel conservation.

Marking the launch, the Secretary flagged off a publicity vehicle carrying the message SAKSHAM (Sanrakshan Kshamata Mahotsav) which will move in and around Jammu city to make masses aware about oil and fuel conservation. The tagline of the month long awareness drive 2020 is ‘Indhan Adhik Na Khapayein, Aao Paryavaran bachayein’.

The awareness drive has been organised by Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) -a registered society under aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India.

The PCRA is engaged in promoting fuel conservation and its efficient utilization with special attention on major oil consuming sectors viz Agriculture, Transport, Industry and Domestic, through its awareness programs.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Secretary said that the objective of the month long awareness drive is to catch the attention of public towards conservation of fuel, efficient energy utilization, environment protection and sustainable development.

“ The campaign will motivate the consumers to minimize their fuel bills and help the nation in reducing oil imports,” he maintained.

He also said that the campaign would promote best driving habits, better maintenance of vehicles, use of carpooling for going to offices and schools, switching off engines at traffic lights and train drivers to minimize the wastage of fuel.

He urged upon the organizers to reach out all stakeholders, who are involved in the fuel consumption including drivers, fleet operators, industry employees, workers, farmers, gram panchayats,   youth, women and involve them in the campaign activities.  “Every stakeholder can contribute towards saving the environment from pollution by some small efforts and make the society and nation economically stable,” he said.

Director FCS&CA Jammu, Jatinder Singh and Controller Legal Metrology J&K, Neetu Gupta also spoke on conservation of oil by making small efforts in our daily life.

 Coordinator, Oil Industry, J&K, gave a brief about month long activities to be carried out during the campaign.

Heads of the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Limited(IOCL) besides dealers and distributors were present on the occasion.
