Condemning stone pelting at Gurudwara in Nankana Sahib, Pakistan by a rowdy mob and threatening of Sikhs living there, Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) State Executive Member, Raman Suri, today said that the horrible side of Pakistan, where minorities are tortured badly, stands exposed. This was the reason Indian Government brought the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), over which Congress is playing politics.
In his statement issued here Raman Suri said, India completely extends its support to the historic Citizenship Amendment Act2019 brought in by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Government in order to ensure justice to the religiously persecuted minorities from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
“The entire world saw yesterday’s videos streaming from Pakistan and this is yet another eye-opener for theworld, which proves the legitimacy and the necessity of CAA,” Raman Suri said, adding that minorities were never safe in Pakistan, which is why maximum temples and Gurudwaras belonging to Hindus, Sikhs and Jains stand demolished and abandoned in Pakistan.
He said that minorities had been facing tortures daily,and this was the reason that even Congress, time and again supported CAA, but now that it’s a law to help the minorities,Congress is opposing it tooth and nail only to gain political foothold. CAA, Raman Suri said, is about giving citizenship to persecuted refugees and not about taking anyone’s citizenship away.
However, Congress and Aam Admi Party in Delhi are trying to mislead commoners by wrongly interpreting the law. India fully supports this historic legislation and now there’s no way that persecuted minorities will not be given Indian citizenship. They will all be given their due and made to live an honorable life here in India.
The BJP leader said that minorities in Pakistan have been consistently persecuted for their religious beliefs whereas India is a home for all religions. CAA is to confer citizenship rather than deprive it. Misinformation campaign spread against CAA to instill fear amongst a section is a dirty and dangerous trick Congress is playing.
Raman Suri asserted that in February 2004, Government had provided relief to Hindu minorities by settling them in Gujarat & Rajasthan. Thereafter, Congress Government in 2005 & 2006 extended the same. When they are in power, they do it; but when in Opposition, they are doing politics of convenience.
Congress party, in its manifesto, had also promised an all-round development of people who have been displaced from Pakistan, that means the refugees, and they promised to give them citizenship rights and rehabilitation of those families. Contrarily,Congress is opposing this act now.
