DDC reviews progress of under construction roads and bridges in border area

District Development Commissioner, O P Bhagat today visited border areas of Hiranagar Sub Division to take stock of inter connectivity projects of border villages and inspected the progress of under construction roads and bridges of BRO.

DDC was informed by the concerned Engineers that BRO is entrusted with construction of roads and bridges in border area of Hiranagar and a length of 610 Meter is expected to be completed by March 2020,

In Hiranagar area, the border dwellers were mostly affected during rains as the water in Ujh and Tarnah river disconnected them with other parts of the district and sometimes there is loss of lives as well as livestock, DDC said and added that after completion of bridges over these rivers the long pending demand of the residents will get relief and interconnectivity of border villages will also get strengthened.

The residents of village Marheen, Haripur and Sanyal informed the DDC that when BRO lays any new road they raises the level of the road which leads to water logging in their farm fields as there is no proper drainage of water from their fields.

The DDC on the spot directed the concerned authorities that issues of local residents should be taken on priority besides proper drainage system should be put in place so that the residents should not face these kind of problems in future.

He also directed the executing agencies to complete the projects of border area on time and maintain the quality of work during execution.

ADC Kathua, Ghanshyam Singh, GREF Engineers, BDC Chairperson, Sarpanchs, Panchs and villagers in large numbers were present during the visit of the DDC.
