Congress calls for provisions of free electricity, jobs for locals in 1000 MW power projects

The Congress party delegation of Kishtwar District headed by its state Vice President and Former Minister, G. M Saroori calls for provisions of free electricity to the inhabitants of Kishtwar District as was promised to them by the NHPC at the time of taking over of 390 MW Dool-Hasti power projects and demanded jobs for local unemployed youths including Engineers, Diploma holders in 1000 MW power projects.

Congress delegation compromises of former Minister Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, Trade Unionist Raj Kumar Badyal, Counsellor Sanjeet Kumar, Congress Block President Ghulam Qadir Sheikh, Ali Mohd Naik, Tariq Hussain Mintoo, Surjeet Kumar, Student leader Waseem Saroori, Ex Sarpanch Bidya Lal, Sarpanches and many other intellectuals from the Congress party calls upon Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar and appraise him about the genuine aspirations of the people of Kishtwar.

They called upon DC Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana to take up the issues and matters raised by them with the government of Jammu and Kashmir as well as with the higher officials of NHPC and CVPPP so that the locals aspirations as was promised to them will get fulfilled.

Among the various issues raised by them with the administration include provisions of free electricity in Kishtwar town and its peripheral areas as nothing has been done by NHPC so far for the welfare and benefits of people of Kishtwar, installations of high mask lights in each wards of Kishtwar Municipality and outside the town, black topping of two important city roads viz Om Mehta and Bagwan Mohallah road exclusively used by the NHPC, beside also called for construction of proper drainage system as present drainage system is chocked due to down flow of water and sewage from NHPC colony, laid stress for appointments of para medical staff in health sub centres across Inderwal and Kishtwar constituencies, clearance of pending liabilities with regard to IHHL units as approximately Rs 3 Crore dues are pending on account of Swatch Bharat Mission in Kishtwar District, land compensation pending under PMGSY sector, inquiry with regard to use of Govt High School building Patnazi (Drabshalla Zone)by private businessmen for personal use, illegal encroachment on constructed Ground Watershed under IWMP, dumping of ration in far flung and snow bound areas, floating of tenders for Kandani to Bhagra road under NABARD for which funds to the tune of Rs. 80 lakhs are already available, reduction in monthly electricity charges being charged from BPL families and PMAY house holders.

They also called for judicious use of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds which is 2% out of the income generated from the power projects and called upon the administration to form a committee involving locals and officials from the administration so that the funds to the tune of crores of rupees every year could be utilised for the welfare and overall development of Kishtwar District.

They also submitted the memorandum to DC Kishtwar in this regard highlighting the various public issues.

DC Kishtwar gives patience hearing to the issues raised by the Congress delegation with him and assured that he will take up the matter with concern quarters and made an appeal for greater participation of public for taking benefits under various government runs schemes. He urged the Sarpanches and Panches to reach out to the public in far flung areas and make them aware about various government run schemes that will give them benefits amid at raising their living standards.
