The first batch of 57 Iran returned pilgrims arrived in the border town of Kargil on Tuesday in a special Indian Air Force (IAF) flight after completing their quarantine period in Uttar Pradesh.
However, official sources said that they would undergo another phase of 14-day administrative quarantine as a precautionary measure.
“The UT Administration is happy to announce homecoming of the 1st batch of 57 Iran returnees to Kargil post quarantine,” Ladakh Divisional Commissioner and Secretary Saugat Biswas wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
The Special flight from Hindon Air Force Station in UP landed at Kargil at 1115 hrs. “The administration is actively pursuing return of next batch on Wednesday,” he added.
There are currently only four active COVID-19 cases in Ladakh, including three in Leh and one in Kargil, while 14 infected patients have recovered and discharged from hospitals.
