Shri Ram Sena (SRS) on Monday expressed shock over Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) working and selling of land of temples by vested elements in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference in Jammu, Shri Ram Sena (SRS), J&K President Rajiv Mahajan raised serious question mark on the working of JMC and especially Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta for his failure to stop encroachment and sale of temples lands in Jammu.
Mahajan asked JMC Mayor, who by now has already completed more than one year in his office, about basement parking and Yoga Ashram in Karan Market which he claimed has been sold out in presence and supervision of JMC officials.
These specifications have already been mentioned in the design of the market and the basement, he added.
Mahajan further said that in place of basement parking, there is shop and in place of Yoga Ashram there is hotel.
He said that how Mayor can be unaware of this and if so this is a serious issue and also puts question mark on the credibility of JMC Mayor.
Shri Ram Sena Chief appealed to both JMC Mayor and Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Girish Chander Murmu to order an enquiry into selling out of basement parking and Yoga Ashram and take action against all those who are allegedly involved in it as it a big shock to Jammuites in particular and for outsiders in general who visit Raghunath Bazar either to pay their obeisance at Raghunath Mandir or for making purchases, where they face parking problems and action by traffic police.
Mahajan maintained that without parking how can one risk lifting of their vehicles while shopping as traffic police wastes no time in lifting vehicles parked in no parking zones even for five minutes only.
Moreover Yoga Ashram could have served for both young and old alike in keeping themselves fit and healthy but unfortunately corrupt and influential officials have deprived them from this facility, he said.
He also appealed media persons to personally visit these two sites which stands sold out and asked Mayor how and why it was done and how can basement parking land and Yoga Ashram land be retrieved.
Mahajan also said that there are numerous reports that lands appurtenant to temples/ shrines in Jammu and Kashmir have been sold out by vested elements and appealed to the Lt Governor to constitute Shrine Board for all these religious places of Jammu and Kashmir.
