Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday said that as many as 706 people are under surveillance while 56 suspected samples were tested, 26 were declared negative, one positive and so far 29 reports are still awaited.
“In UT of J&K till date, 705 number of travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been put under surveillance,” an official here told reporters.
He said that 491 people are in Home Quarantine (including some at Yatri Bhawan, Jammu), nine in Hospital Quarantine, 53 in home surveillance while 150 completed their 28 days surveillance period.
The official added that as many as 56 samples have been sent for testing, 26 negative, 01 tested positive, 29 reports awaited.
UT of J&K has strengthened the Surveillance and Control measures against the disease, he said.

He further said that Corona- Virus lab testing facilities have been started in Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura, Srinagar and Govt. Medical College Jammu.
“Control rooms and surveillance teams have been constituted across all the districts of the UT to meet any sort of eventuality,” he added and said that universal self-declaration made mandatory from March 4, 2020 at Jammu/ Srinagar airports.
Screening of travellers started at Lakhanpur and Lower Munda toll posts as well as Jammu, Katra and Udhampur Railway stations, where Health Help Desks have been setup, he added.

Accordingly wide publicity is being done to create awareness in the community through health education messages especially on hand washing, cough etiquette and home isolation by electronic, print media, radio jingles and leaflets etc.
WHO has declared the recent Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) epidemic as Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).
Till date it has affected 115 countries with 114,635 confirmed cases, 4,031 deaths with majority of them in China, Italy, South Korea, Iran.
In India, 53 confirmed cases have been detected with 0 (Zero) deaths.
