Two PDD engineers faked being professional sportsmen to get jobs under sports quota, CB lodges FIR

Crime Branch (CB) Jammu has unearthed fake appointments in Power Development Department (PDD) and registered a case against two engineers who had managed fake appointment orders in the department under sports quota.

A CB spokesperson Friday said in a statement that two engineers Pallav Gupta of village Bakore (at present Rajpura Mangotrain), Jammu and Sagar Kumar of Chak Jaralan Tehsil Bishnah District Jammu managed their fake appointment orders in PDD as Junior Engineer against sports quota.

“Interestingly both of them have never played even school games but managed their appointments against sports quota of players who are champions at National/International level competitions,” the spokesperson said.

He added that CB has registered FIR against the two fraudsters for cheating and fraud in false and fake appointments orders.

“Both Engineers manage their appointment orders vide Govt. order no. 611-GAD of 2017 dated 18.05.2017 and 708-GAD of 2018 dated 26-04-2018 respectively. Both the JEs have been dismissed by Chief Engineer, J&K Power Transmission Corporation Limited (JKPTCL),” he said.

Interestingly, General Administration Department had recommended the case along with their enquiry report to Crime Branch to lodge FIR against appointment orders of the two Junior Engineers in which the fraud was discovered.

During the course of investigation by Crime Branch, it was established that these government order numbers actually pertain to compassionate appointments under SRO-43 of 1994 dated 22.02.1994 in favour of members of the J&K State Advisory Board.

“It was also established that the accused persons have managed false and fake appointment orders and cheated the authorities in using them as genuine one. Thus commission of offences under section 420,465,468,471 IPC against said accused persons were substantiated. In this connection, a formal case FIR has been registered in Crime Branch Jammu and investigation initiated,” the spokesperson added.
