Jammu and Kashmir police arrested three drug peddlers and recovered charas in the central districts of Srinagar and Badgam, a police spokesman said on Saturday evening.
He said police at a checkpoint established at Baba Dawood Khakhi Bridge intercepted a notorious drug peddler identified as Nazir Ahmad Mir resident of Koolipora Khanyar. Police during checking were able to recover 2.5Kgs Charas from his possession.
He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Khanyar where he remains in custody.
Case FIR No. 08/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Khanyar and further investigation has been taken up.
He said police at a checkpoint established near railway road Budgam intercepted two suspicious persons identified as Bilal Ahmed Beigh and Mohammad Rafiq Hajam both residents of Kadipora, Budgam. During checking police recovered 220 grams of charas from their possession.
Case FIR No. 54/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Budgam and investigation in the matter has been initiated. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Budgam where they remain in custody.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community meetings.
