
Various educational institutions across district Bandipora on Monday organised essay writing competitions, pledge ceremonies and awareness programmes under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) to spread awareness against drug abuse and promote healthy lifestyles among students.
Activities under NMBA were conducted at High School Panar, High School Koragbal and H/S Ketson, where different awareness and pledge programmes were organised to educate students about the harmful effects of substance abuse and the importance of leading a healthy and responsible life.
An Essay Writing Competition on the theme “Youth Responsibility” was organised at PM SHRI High School Odina under the banner of NMBA. Students enthusiastically participated and expressed their views on the role of youth in building a drug-free, healthy and progressive society.
Similar essay writing competitions were organised at HSS Nowgam, HSS Quilmuqam, HSS Gadakhud, HS Kanzalwan, HSS Sumbal, GHS Nadihal and BHSS Aloosa under the NMBA campaign. Students actively participated and highlighted the importance of youth engagement, awareness and preventive action in controlling drug abuse and promoting a healthy society.
At HSS Quilmuqam, students and staff also participated in a pledge ceremony reaffirming their commitment towards building a drug-free and responsible society.
HSS Gadakhud organised an essay writing competition titled “Responsibility of Youth in Drug Abuse Control”. Around 20 students participated in the competition and highlighted the role of youth as guardians of a drug-free society. Winners of the competition were awarded certificates of appreciation by the Principal.
Meanwhile, Government High School Tarbal Gurez organised a Drug Awareness Campaign in collaboration with Police, Youth Services and Sports Department and Education Department. The programme focused on curbing substance abuse through awareness activities, anti-drug slogans and posters aimed at educating the public, especially youth, about the harmful consequences of drug addiction.
The programmes witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, staff members and volunteers across the district, reflecting the continued commitment of educational institutions towards strengthening awareness and preventive outreach under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
