
SHOPIAN, MAY 11: District-level celebrations under the nationwide campaign “Somnath Swabhiman Parv – 75 Years of reconstruction and inauguration of Somnath Temple” was today celebrated at the historic Tirath Raj Kapal Mochan Temple at Deegam, Nagbal, Shopian.
The event witnessed enthusiastic public participation and devotees and was organised in line with the directions of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, to commemorate the rich spiritual and cultural legacy associated with the Somnath Temple.
Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Shishir Gupta along with ADDC Shopian, Dr.Nasir Ahmad Lone and other officers and officials also participated in the celebrations.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that such programmes serve as a symbol of India’s glorious civilisational heritage and strengthen the spirit of unity, faith and communal harmony among the people.
During the event, devotional bhajans, puja rituals, public participation drives, cleanliness campaigns and awareness activities were organised at the Temple.
