
PULWAMA, MAY 11: As part of the ongoing 100-day campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan , awareness and outreach activities continued across District Pulwama today with various departments and stakeholders organising programmes aimed at sensitising the public about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promoting a healthy and drug-free society.
An awareness camp was organised at Panchayat Gadpora of Block Aripal, during which awareness sessions were conducted highlighting the importance of collective efforts in curbing substance abuse. On the occasion, participants also took part in the Nasha Mukt pledge and a padyatra was also organised as part of the programme to spread awareness among the general public regarding the harmful consequences of drug addiction and the need for active community participation in prevention efforts.
Similar awareness programmes were also organised at Namblabal Pampore and Ashmander Pampore, where participants were sensitised about the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan and encouraged to actively support the anti-drug campaign.
Meanwhile, the Social Welfare Department organised a series of awareness and outreach activities at various locations and educational institutions across the district under the campaign.
The activities featured awareness rallies, pledge ceremonies, signature campaigns, pamphlet distribution drives, poster campaigns, debates and discussion sessions focusing on prevention of substance abuse and promotion of healthy lifestyles among youth and students. Short film and video screenings highlighting the ill effects of drug abuse were also conducted during the programmes.
Furthermore, the Education Department organised discussions and interactive sessions across various educational institutions on the theme of “Myths vs Facts regarding Drug Menace” to create awareness among students and to promote informed and responsible behaviour.
Besides, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Pulwama continued a variety of sports and awareness activities across different zones of the district under the campaign. The activities included football, badminton, basketball, table tennis, tug of war, chess and cricket competitions along with awareness programmes, seminars and chart exhibitions aimed at promoting a healthy and drug-free lifestyle among youth.
