
BUDGAM, MAY 09: Various awareness and outreach programmes were organised across Budgam district today under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) with an aim to educate people, especially youth and rural communities, about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of environmental and social responsibility.
Excise Team Sub Range Budgam carried out a major awareness programme through Friday Sermon at Batpora Chadoora. During the sermon delivered at Jamia Masjid, the Imam highlighted the ill effects of drug abuse on society and human health and urged people to remain vigilant against the growing menace of narcotics. Farmers were particularly sensitized and advised to refrain from cultivation of illicit narcotic crops such as poppy and cannabis in their farms and orchards.
The programme emphasized the collective responsibility of society in creating a drug-free environment through awareness and education.
Meanwhile, Raithan Forest Range organised a plantation drive, pledge ceremony and awareness programme under NMBA at Government Middle School Gurwaite Kalan. Students, teachers and locals participated enthusiastically in the programme and pledged to work towards environmental protection and social awareness. Participants were sensitized about the importance of preserving forests, biodiversity and maintaining a healthy and drug-free society.
Further intensifying awareness efforts among students, a slogan writing activity was organised at Government Higher Secondary School Budgam under NMBA. Students actively participated and expressed their thoughts creatively through slogans highlighting the dangers of drug abuse and the need for environmental conservation and responsible citizenship.
The programmes witnessed active participation from students, teachers, officials and members of the local community. The organisers reiterated their commitment towards making society drug-free through sustained awareness campaigns, community participation and educational initiatives.
