SAMBA, APRIL 20: Director Horticulture Jammu Gul Syed today conducted an extensive tour of district Samba.
He was accompanied by Horticulture Development Officer, Purmandal Rakesh Kumar along with officials of Zone Purmandal.
During the tour, the Director inspected the orchard of Baloch Din at Village Bari, Zone Purmandal, with a focus on-ground assessment of orchard management practices and directed the officer and officials for regular interaction with farmers.
The Director also interacted with local farmers and generate awareness about various departmental schemes including JKCIP, HADP, and MIDH, encouraging adoption of dragon fruit cultivation and other high-value fruit crops for enhanced income generation and diversification.
Later, the Director visited a High-Tech Polyhouse at Village Badhori, Zone Purmandal, where he interacted with the beneficiary and reviewed the modern cultivation practices being adopted under protected farming. He emphasized the importance of advanced technologies in horticulture for improving productivity and strengthening farmers’ livelihood.
