
REASI, APRIL 13: As part of the ongoing 100-day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir campaign, the District Administration Reasi today organized a cricket tournament at General Zorawar Singh Stadium to promote sportsmanship and raise awareness against drug abuse among youth.
The initiative, conducted by the Department of Youth Services and Sports Reasi under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Kumar Abhishek, reflects the administration’s continued focus on youth engagement and anti-drug awareness through sports and recreational activities.
The tournament aimed to sensitize youth about the harmful effects of substance abuse while encouraging them to adopt a healthy and disciplined lifestyle. It also sought to instill values of teamwork, discipline, resilience and sportsmanship among participants. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of various educational institutions, who displayed commendable spirit and commitment towards a drug-free society. A pledge was also administered on the occasion, wherein participants resolved to stay away from drugs and contribute towards building a drug-free society.
The tournament featured closely contested matches, with BHSS Reasi defeating GDC Reasi by 57 runs in the opening encounter. ITI Reasi registered a narrow victory over Government Polytechnic College Reasi by 2 wickets in the second match, while BHSS Reasi clinched the title by defeating ITI Reasi by 6 wickets in the final.
Officials reiterated that such initiatives play a vital role in channelizing youth energy in a positive direction and strengthening the fight against drug abuse. The event concluded on a positive note, reinforcing messages of fitness, discipline and social responsibility.
