87th CRPF Anniversary Volleyball Tournament 2026 concludes at Chanderkote

RAMBAN, MARCH 10: The final match of the 87th CRPF Anniversary Volleyball Tournament, organized under the aegis of the Jammu Sector CRPF, was held with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship at Tac HQ 84 Bn CRPF Chanderkote, Ramban (J&K) today.

 

The closing function was graced by First Lady N. Gayabati Devi, as the chief guest in the presence of Commandant 84th Bn CRPF N. Ranbir Singh, Second-in-Command Vikram Singh, Assistant Commandant Roop Ram Meena, Deepak Shukla, Vikas Kumar, Shree Ram Meena, families and personnel of 84 Bn CRPF, players and local youth.

 

The final match witnessed a thrilling contest between HMB Parnote and Chanderkote Defenders, drawing a large gathering of sports lovers and youth from the area. In an exciting match, HMB Parnote emerged as the champion, defeating Chanderkote Defenders with a score of 25–16, 23–25, 25–17 and 26–24.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Commandant N. Ranbir Singh highlighted the glorious history of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and its significant contribution to nation building. He said that the CRPF was presented with its colours by the then Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on March 19, 1950 and the force is now celebrating its 87th Anniversary.

 

He informed that the volleyball tournament was organized as part of the anniversary celebrations to promote sports in the region and provide a platform for youth to showcase their talent and skills.

 

He also appealed to the youth to actively participate in sports for physical and mental fitness, discipline, team spirit and a healthy lifestyle. He assured that such sporting events would continue to be organized in the future to promote talent and strengthen the bond between the CRPF and the local populace.

 

On the occasion, trophies, medals, volleyballs and nets were distributed among the winner and runner-up teams. Cultural programmes were also presented by the participants.

 

During the function, national-level boxing player Sandeep Singh, who is presently serving as a three-star referee and representatives of various media houses were also felicitated.
