DC Kathua flags off farmers’ exposure tour to Central Potato Research Institute Jalandhar

KATHUA, FEBRUARY 09: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma today flagged off a group of 50 farmers drawn from different villages of the district on an exposure-cum-training tour to the Central Potato Research Institute (CPRI), Jalandhar.

Chief Agriculture Officer, Jatinder Kumar Khajuria; District Agriculture Officer (Extension), Raj Singh and other officials were present at the flag off ceremony. The farmers’ tour has been organized under the Sub Mission on Agriculture Extension (SMAE–ATMA) scheme.

 

Interacting with the farmers, the Deputy Commissioner advised them to take full advantage of the training opportunity at the reputed research institute and put in use the gained knowledge and skill back at home to enhance production.

The CAO informed that the initiative aims to equip farmers with modern agricultural knowledge and practical skills.

“Under the SMAE–ATMA scheme, the Agriculture Department Kathua is focusing on bridging the gap between agricultural research and field-level practices through training programmes, demonstrations and exposure visits,” he added.

Among others present on the occasion were ADO (Vegetables) Kathua Vijay Kumar Abrol, MDO Kathua Ashok Sarmal besides officers and officials of the Agriculture Production Department Kathua.
