
KUPWARA, JANUARY 30: In a swift and well-coordinated midnight rescue operation, the District Administration Kupwara successfully facilitated the evacuation of three critical patients, including a seriously ill child, from snowbound areas of Karnah across Sadhna Pass to GMC Handwara.
The operation was undertaken after Beacon 109 RCC cleared heavy snow and permitted emergency movement at Sadhna Pass. The evacuation was led by Tehsildar Karnah, Mohd Amin Bhat, in close coordination with the Indian Army, Kupwara Police, Health Department, 109 RCC Project Beacon and District and Sub-Divisional Administration.
Patients were stabilized at SDH Tangdhar before two ambulances departed at 11:40 PM and safely reached GMC Handwara in the early morning hours marking the first vehicular movement across Sadhna Pass after nearly a week of closure.
The District Administration appreciated the dedication and courage of the medical teams, ambulance drivers, security forces, and all departments involved, reiterating its commitment to ensuring timely medical assistance and public safety even under extreme weather conditions.
