
SHOPIAN, JANUARY 30: District Shopian today observed anti-leprosy day under the National Leprosy Eradication Programme (NLEP) to raise awareness about leprosy, eliminate stigma and promote early detection and timely treatment.
The programme was organized under the overall supervision of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Shopian, Dr. Arshid Hussain Tak and was observed across the district with the active participation of all health institutions.
Awareness activities were conducted at various levels focusing on dispelling myths associated with leprosy, encouraging early reporting of symptoms and ensuring free and timely treatment for affected individuals.
On the occasion, CMO distributed blankets, shoes and medical kits among patients who have been released from treatment, as a gesture of care, compassion and social support.
The initiative aims at commitment towards patient welfare and inclusive healthcare, ensuring dignity and quality of life for all.
