PM Modi Inaugurates Bengaluru Metro’s Yellow Line and Launches Three New Vande Bharat Express Trains

On Sunday, 10 August 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled multiple infrastructure projects, including the much-awaited Yellow Line of the Bengaluru Metro and three new Vande Bharat Express trains.

Arriving at HAL Airport at 10:30 AM, the Prime Minister proceeded to KSR Bengaluru City Railway Station, where he first flagged off the KSR Bengaluru–Belagavi Vande Bharat Express.

Key Routes and Features of the New Vande Bharat Trains:

Bengaluru–Belagavi: Key stations include Bengaluru, Yeshwantpur, Tumakuru, Davangere, Haveri, Hubballi, Dharwad, and Belagavi.

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Amritsar: Major stops are Katra, Jammu Tawi, Pathankot Cantt, Jalandhar City, Beas, and Amritsar.

Nagpur (Ajni)–Pune: Covering 881 km, this is the longest Vande Bharat route, with key stations at Pune, Daund Chord Line, Ahilyanagar, Kopargaon, Manmad, Jalgaon, Bhusawal, Akola, Shegaon, Badnera, Wardha, and Nagpur.

All three trains will operate six days a week, excluding Tuesdays, with a total seating capacity of 590 passengers — seven Chair Cars and one Executive Chair Car. Ticket prices start from ₹1,500 for economy class, and the trains will run at an average speed of 73 km/h.

The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Amritsar Vande Bharat Express was flagged off virtually from KSR Bengaluru Railway Station. The service departs Katra at 6:40 AM and reaches Amritsar by 12:20 PM, while the return journey departs Amritsar at 4:25 PM, arriving in Katra at 10:00 PM.

Speaking on the occasion, officials noted that the new services will provide pilgrims with a faster, safer, and more comfortable travel option while boosting the local economy. Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed his gratitude to PM Modi for dedicating the service to the region.
