Muharram procession in Srinagar, Iran and Palestine flags waved

The Shia community in Kashmir on Friday took out a Muharram procession on the traditional route in the city on the eighth day of mourning. The procession was taken out peacefully under the supervision of the authorities. However, flags of Iran and Palestine were also seen during the procession. This is the third consecutive year that the administration has given permission to take out a Muharram procession on the traditional route through the heart of the city.

The procession started from the Guru Bazar area of ​​the city and passed through the designated route via Jahangir Chowk and Maulana Azad Road. It will end at Dalgate. Senior officers of the police and civil administration joined the procession at Lal Chowk as a symbolic gesture of unity and service. Special Director General of Police, Coordination, SJM Gilani, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, VK Birdi, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri and other senior officers of the police and CRPF served water and juice to the mourners.
