June 6, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on an official visit to Jammu and Kashmir today, where he will inaugurate a series of landmark infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing connectivity in the region.

Among the most notable events is the inauguration of the Chenab Bridge, the world’s highest railway bridge, towering over even the Eiffel Tower and Qutub Minar in height. Earlier today, PM Modi conducted an inspection of the iconic structure located in Reasi district. The bridge plays a pivotal role in connecting the Kashmir Valley to the rest of India via rail, marking a significant milestone in the country’s infrastructure development.

In addition to the Chenab Bridge, Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate India’s first cable-stayed railway bridge — the Anji Bridge, another engineering marvel in the region.

As part of his visit, the Prime Minister will flag off the Vande Bharat Express from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Railway Station to Srinagar, further strengthening high-speed rail connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir.

These developments come under the ambitious Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, whose final phase has now been completed. With this, a continuous rail link from Kanyakumari in the south to Kashmir in the north has been successfully established, marking a new era in India’s transportation network.
