A new era in Indian Test cricket has officially begun following the retirement of senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The transition kicks off with India’s tour of England, starting June 20. On Saturday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squad for the upcoming Test series.

Shubman Gill has been appointed as the new captain of the Indian Test team. The squad marks the beginning of India’s campaign in the fourth cycle of the World Test Championship with a youthful lineup. Alongside Gill, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has been named vice-captain.

To fill the void left by Kohli, Sai Sudharsan has been included in the squad. Among the few experienced players retained are all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah.
