No relief from dengue sting: More than 100 cases daily in Jammu

Jammu: 4,170 people have been infected with dengue in the state, of which 2,765 have been reported in Jammu district, accounting for more than 65 per cent. However, the unofficial figure of those suffering from dengue is many times higher. Jammu district reported 73 new dengue cases on Saturday, the highest in the state.

Almost parts of Jammu city have been affected by dengue. Dengue has hit Bakhshinagar, Talab Tillo, Rihari, Janipur, Channi Himmat, Jullaka Mohalla, various parts of the old city, Gandhinagar, Shastri Nagar, Bathindi, Siddara and other areas. Patients with dengue symptoms continue to arrive in hospitals as well.

GMC alone is admitting 10 to 15 dengue patients daily. These include critical patients requiring platelets. Ninety-two victims are receiving treatment in existing hospitals, while a large number of people are also receiving treatment at home. Jammu is followed by Udhampur with 513 cases. There have been 8 new cases. Similarly, seven cases were reported in Samba, eight in Kathua, one in Riasi, three each in Rajori and Kishtwar and six in Doda.
