SITUATION PRECARIOUS

It is matter of grave concern that the situation along the border with China in east Ladakh is still wobbly because the rogue nation is not mending its evil designs and has still deputed its troops in large numbers making it imperative for India to remain on tenterhooks despite the changing climate as harsh winter has already set in. The statement of army chief Gen Manoj Pandey in this context is quite significant and shows that the much has to be done on military, diplomatic and political levels to get rid of this unnecessary situation which has been created by the Dragon nation just to satiate its vested expansionist desires, which India will never allow to happen because there is lot of difference between India of yesteryears and of today. This is the reason behind the Army Chief’s assertion that the situation in eastern Ladakh is “stable but unpredictable”. It is pertinent to mention that over 30-month long standoff between the Indian and Chinese troops in the high-altitude region is still continuing with certain areas of conflict getting resolved after the military level talks between the two countries and the remaining issues are likely to be resolved through dialogue as both the nations have reached on the consensus to continue with the talks. The Army chief has also endorsed this by saying that the focus of the next round of military talks would be to resolve issues at the two remaining friction points viz Demchok and Depsang. Going by the words of the army chief, China is not mending its ways at the border in eastern Ladakh because there is no troop cut, the defence edifice is also being enhanced unabatedly and the rogue nation is maneuvering very cleverly to bring things in its favour. This makes it necessary for the country to remain cautious and leave no space unattended because the character of Chinese PLA is known to the entire world of being deceptive and crooked therefore it becomes imperative for India to be prepared and mount pressure on China through conventional means so that the situation across this borderline remains in the country’s favour.
