An encounter took place in Tangpawa area of Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir late on Sunday evening. According to the police, two terrorists have been killed so far in this encounter with the terrorists of Jammu and Kashmir Police and security forces. Due to the possibility of presence of more terrorists in the area, the security forces have launched a search operation. Both the terrorists killed are said to be related to Lashkar-e-Taiba. At present, the identities of the two have not been disclosed by the police. Sources say that both the terrorists killed are locals.
Last week, four terrorists were killed in two separate encounters in a joint operation launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district during the visit of Home Minister Amit Shah, police said. Three terrorists were killed in an encounter last Tuesday night in Drach area of Shopian district. After this, another local terrorist was killed in Mulu area of Shopian.

Earlier on the previous day, three local terrorists belonging to the banned terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) were killed in the first encounter in Drach area of Shopian. In contrast, a terrorist of the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was killed in the second encounter between security forces and terrorists in Mulu area of Shopian early today.
