
Tension has arisen in the town after a case of tampering of idols at Vasuki Nag temple located in Kailash Kund in Bhaderwah district, also known as Chhota Kashmir, came to light. In other districts of the state including Bhaderwah, social and religious organizations have started demonstrations in the matter of tampering with idols. In view of the increasing tension in Bhaderwah, the administration has issued a high alert along with increasing the security arrangements in the entire town.
The movement of shops and vehicles in the town has been completely closed. At the same time, people of Hindu religion are demanding from the administration that they should find out those who damage the idols of Lord Vasuki Nag except the main gate of the temple and give them the strictest punishment.
It is believed that a conspiracy is being hatched to disturb communal harmony in Bhaderwah. Some anti-national elements have tampered with the idols in Vasuki Nag Temple at Kailash Kund to create a dispute between the two religions.
Police say that this case is of Sunday. When some devotees reached this temple established in Kailash Kund, they found the main gate broken. When he went inside the temple and saw that the idols of other deities including Lord Vasuki were tampered with. As soon as this news reached Bhaderwah town, people got angry. In Bhaderwah city, people of religious and social organizations along with local citizens started a series of dharna-demonstrations by stopping the movement of vehicles, burning tires etc. on the roads.
The administration has also issued a high alert so that a dispute arises between the two communities regarding this matter. Bhaderwah main market has been closed while vehicular movement has also been completely stopped. In view of the tension in the area, security forces have been deployed at various places. The process of picketing and demonstrations has started not only in Bhaderwah but in other districts as well.
