PDP President Mehbooba Mufti expressed hope that the Supreme Court will restore the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and after removing it, it will overturn all the laws implemented in the state.

The Supreme Court may hear the petitions challenging the Centre’s decision to abrogate Article 370 after the summer vacations. PDP President Mehbooba Mufti has given her response on this. Mehbooba Mufti expressed hope that the Supreme Court will restore the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and after removing it, it will also overturn all the laws implemented in the state.

Mehbooba Mufti wrote on social media, ‘The legal and constitutional special status of a state was stripped and divided into two parts. He was made powerless. Yet it took three years for the Supreme Court to list the matter. Hope the Supreme Court will not only reinstate Article 370, but also overturn all illegal laws implemented here after its abrogation.

Petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court against the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcation of the state into two union territories. These petitions are likely to come up for hearing in July after the summer vacations. The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court on Monday said that he will try to list the matter in July for hearing the petition. Senior advocates Shekhar Naphde and P Chidambaram had sought an early hearing citing delimitation of assembly seats.
