No room for laxity in post lockdown: DC Kishtwar

Appeals people to strictly follow Covid safety protocol

KISHTWAR, JUNE 22: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Ashok Sharma today appealed to the people to strictly adhere to the  COVID Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) and stick to guidelines issued by the Government to make the district COVID free.

Speaking at the weekly press briefing, he urged the people to use face masks, maintain social distance and necessarily get inoculated as these are the only affirmative tools to fight and defeat the spread of COVID19 virus.

 During the press briefing, he informed that the district administration has taken a number of initiatives for the enforcement of CAB and any person found violating the guidelines shall be strictly dealt with.

He further informed that enforcement squads have been put on task for the effective enforcement of post lockdown safety measures.

Besides, he informed that the restriction on the entry of the public in the Chowgan ground, strengthening of check nakas, implementation of weekend curfew in the district and prohibition of gathering in public places and business establishments are still put in place to ensure the safety of the general public.

He further informed that district administration in collaboration with health and other departments have been able to conduct 80% vaccination of the persons above 45 yrs of age in rural areas.

He also listed various initiatives taken by district administration to scale up the vaccination and testing in the rural areas and at Panchayat level.

He briefed that 23 micro-containment zones have been de-notified after getting fully satisfied with the negative COVID reports, while rest will be de-notified as and when the administration gets fully satisfied about the safety in these areas.

The DC informed that 1598 positive cases have been reported in the district during the second wave till date, out of which 1453 have recovered and only 131 are active now.

The recovery rate has picked up and the positivity rate has plummeted to 0.92% this week, he informed.
