Police on Tuesday arrested a government school headmaster, who was evading arrest since last month in a mid-day meal scam, in north Kashmir district of Bandipora.
Official sources said that the headmaster, identified as Syed Sajad, was arrested by police in Sumbal area in Bandipora.
Giving details of the case, they said following a tip off, police intercepted a vehicle loaded with 61 bags of rice meant for school children under Mid-day meal scheme at Middle School Sumbal last month. “The rice bags were being transported outside the school where it was to be sold in open market,” they said.
They said three persons, identified as Mohammad Yousuf, Jafar and Firdous Mir, were arrested at the spot. “The headmaster was evading arrest since then,” they said.
They said investigation in the case in going on.
