Continuing his drive to provide more development and civic amenities to the people of Jammu city, Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation along with Madam Gurmeet Kour Randhawa councilor of ward no.69 inaugurated the construction work of deep drains alongwith suitable crossings at Sec-G near Railway track opp. New Bridge Sainik Colony Jammu. Sh. Shalinder Singh Jamwal District Secy BJYM, S. Amrik Singh , Sh C.S Charak, madam Inderjeet Kour, S .Surinder Singh laddi , social activists, Sh Jagdish khajuria, Senior Citizen & other prominent inhabitants of the locality as well as Sh Ashok kumar Sharma, Assistant Executive Engineer, JMC, Mohd. Yasin Junior Engineer of the ward, concerned contractor and other field staff of the health section were also accompanied the mayor during the tour.
Speaking on the occasion, mayor told that it was the long pending demands of the residents of this particular lane which is situated at the tail end of the ward and due to lack of drainage system, dirty water from all the houses stagnates on the roadside which becomes a breeding place of mosquitoes & also causing great hardships for the locals especially for children & old persons to pass through this area. He further said that an amount of Rs 3.25 lacs has been allotted for this development work and after the construction of these deep drains which is approx 150 ft long the household water will flow smoothly into the onward nallah which will give great relief to the residents who are residing here for the last more than 20 years. Mayor further said that JMC has already taken up the job for providing best possible facilities to the citizens in very ward with the active support of each councilor in respect of installation of much awaited LED street lights in every corner of the city, commissioning of colorful fountains in 19 rotaries of the city in first instance, start of construction work of multi tier parking at Panjthirti Jammu, Construction of lanes/drains & macaedimization work of restoration of traditional water bodies /ponds and various other such projects which were in pipeline since long for the beautification of Jammu city. He further appeal to the general public to come farward & cooperate with JMC & other departments in all the development activities, don’t throw filth, garbage etc in the open & in the public drains/nallahas, do not use single used plastics/polythene in their routine life, remove the illegal encroachments if done at their own level from the sides of nallahs, plant more and more saplings in and around their surroundings so that Jammu can be made as neat, clean and green city.
