Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education, Atal Dulloo today said that adequate number of bed with Oxygen and ICU facilities are available in dedicated Covid Hospitals to deal with any emergency situation.
He was interacting with civil society members about the Covid management and control measures in place in Jammu province, here at a meeting.
The meeting was attended by Mission Director NHM, Bhupendra Kumar; Principal GMC, Dr Nasib Chand Digra and senior functionaries of Health services besides, President Chamber of Commerce Jammu, President, Raghunath Bazar Association and many religious heads.
At the outset, the Officers of Directorate of Health services apprised the meeting about the overall Covid-19 situation in Jammu division and Covid control efforts of the health department. It was informed that various Covid care centers have been set up in all the districts of the division to deal with the pandemic.
The civil society members also gave their valuable suggestions for containing the spread of Covid-19. They suggested that there is a requirement of creating awareness among the general public regarding precautionary measures and make them understand that there is no need to panic. It was also suggested that dedicated teams of doctors be constituted for giving proper guidance to the Covid patients who are under home isolation.
The members further said that the district hospitals should be fully geared up so that the load on GMC Jammu and its associated hospital is minimized. To counter the rumours, the members suggested for setting up of an IT cell. The civil society members also extended their full cooperation to administration in containing the spread of Covid-19.
The FC Health gave patient hearing to all the suggestions of the civil society members and appreciated their role in the containment of the spread of covid-19.
He said that the health department is trying to give best treatment to the covid patients and more efforts are needed.
He informed that over 9634 isolation beds are available in dedicated Covid hospitals, dedicated Covid Health centres and Covid care centres. He also informed that over 152 ICU beds, 189 Ventilators, 1885 oxygen supported beds are available to deal with the pandemic.
The FC Health also informed about the bed occupancy situation in covid hospitals. Total 10255 isolation beds are available out of which 1552 are occupied while 8892 beds are vacant in hospitals across Jammu division. In district Jammu total 2720 beds are available out of which 613 are occupied while 2107 beds are vacant.
He also informed that district hospitals are also geared up with logistic supports including PPE Kits, Masks, VTM, Sanitizers, RNA Extraction Kits, Rapid Antigen Kits and oxygen cylinders for successful treatment of Covid patients.
He urged the general public not to panic and take precautionary measures to contain the spread of Covid-19.
