Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation Chander Mohan Gupta alongwith Deputy Mayor Advocate Purnima Sharma , Councilor of ward no.4 Madam Sunita Koul and Officers/officials of the department today on 11/07/2020 conducted an extensive tour in the areas of Sabzi mandi Parade and met with the representatives of shopkeepers/Phari association of Sabzi Mandi. Mayor and Deputy Mayor held detail discussion with them regarding maintaining proper sanitation as well as providing other possible facilities /infrastructure to the shopkeepers.
Mayor was apprised by the field staff of Health section that some shopkeepers of the Sabzi Mandi have stopped giving requisite user charges in lieu of sanitation provided to them. Due to which safaikaramcharies of the ward has also refused to perform their duties in the said area. Mayor told the representatives that Jammu Municipal Corporation on the guidelines of J&K Govt. has been charging user charges from all the residential as well as commercial establishments against proper Govt receipts and the sanitation staff is working with full dedication and Hard work in these Hot & Humid conditions to provide best possible Sanitation to the citizens of Jammu. He further said that the Municipal Staff has done a tremendous job even during the period of corona virus pandemic, putting their own life at risk and playing an important role in controlling this deadly disease successfully in Jammu City. Mayor and Deputy Mayor also told them that Sabzi mandi complex is a Municipal assets and JMC is committed to develop this area as a model with modern facilities and it is the prime duty of every household owner as well as commercial establishment to give user charges to the department. Representatives of Sabzi Mandi, parade agreed with the views of Mayor & Deputy Mayor and assured them that all the shopkeepers of Sabzi mandi will give requisite user charges to the sanitation staff of JMC on routine basis and thanked both of them for visiting their market, listened to their problems carefully and resolving the issues amicably. Mayor also appealed to them not to use polythene carry bags for selling vegetables / fruits & other items to the customers donot throw rotten vegetables /fruits and garbage in the public lane & in the open area, cooperate with staff of JMC in maintaining the area neat, clean and green.
