Former union minister P Namgyal is no more, NC, PDP condoled demise

Former Union minister and veteran Congress leader P Namgyal passed away at his residence here on Monday.
He was 87.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and National Conference (NC) condoled the demise of Namgyal.

Three time Member of Parliament (MP) from Ladakh constituency and Union minister of state during 1988-89 breathed his last at his residence this morning.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi, leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad and senior party leaders have condoled the demise of Namgyal.
Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condoled the demise of Mr Namgyal, terming his demise deeply saddening and disturbing.

PDP spokesman while condoling the demise said that late Namgyal had an illustrious career and his contribution to the society is immense, this void is difficult to bridge.

The spokesman highlighted the role late Namgyal played for the upliftment of society’s downtrodden and underprivileged sections.  He termed deceased      leader a role model for the people who aspire to serve the society and represent the unrepresented in the power corridors.

Party has prayed for peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family members.

Several former NC legislators today expressed deep grief over the demise of Namgyal , former member Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council and a veteran leader of Ladakh region.

“Mr Namgyal was a popular face and voice from Ladakh with immense qualities of head and heart”, they said while recalling his tireless services for welfare and economic upliftment of his people in the region.

The NC leaders described Mr Namgyal as a nice human being and an esteemed colleague in the legislature, saying he has left an indelible mark of political acumen and decency in public life. The late leader will always be remembered for his sense of political understanding and maturity in meeting the challenges.
