Adopting proper social distancing amid nationwide lockdown in wake of Corona virus outbreak, Sh. Chander Mohan Gupta Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation today on 16.05.2020 conducted a surprise tour at Municipal Workshop at Prem Nagar near Jogi Gate Jammu. S. Harvinder Singh AEE (Mech), S. Dharam Veer Singh AE (Mech), JMC and other staff of Municipal workshop were present at the site. Mayor was apprised by concerned Engineers that Mechanical Wing of JMC has recently installed new tyre puncture unit in the complex which is going to function in the next week of May 2020. It is unique type of unit which will save Rs. 6.00 (Six) Lakhs annually of the department as earlier all types of Municipal Vehicles are availing this facilities through open market which costs Rs. 50000/- per month and Municipal Drivers have to face lot of hardships while getting their vehicles punctured during odd hours and even during duty time also.
Mayor while paying visit to the whole complex observed that materials of workshop were lying here and there and he directed the concerned that keeping in view the present COVID-19 pandemic the whole complex be kept thoroughly cleaned, plant more & more saplings in & around the workshop to make the environment eco friendly as the said site is situated just near the bank of Suraj Putri River Tawi, install proper dustbins for garbage collection on routine basis to keep the area well furnished.
Mayor directed the Engineers that small sign boards mentioning “Do Not Throw Garbage” which are being built here be installed near the bank of Canals flowing through different parts of Jammu City while big sign boards mentioning “It is Municipal Land and Trespassers / Encroachers will be strictly prosecuted” be installed at all the Municipal Assets / Lands in Jammu for awareness of General Public
Mayor further said that keeping in view the demands of Municipal Councillors and general public procurement of Iron Gratings from SICOP be done on priority so that these Iron Gratings can be fixed in the Municipal wards accordingly and in phased manner. He also assure the concerned that proper renovation in terms of construction of Toilet, proper sitting room, providing of furniture’s and other infrastructure be made available as soon as the lockdown will be lifted and directed them to perform their duty with full dedication will adopting proper work culture as well as social distancing in order to break the chain of Corona Virus successfully.
