Shopian Administration organises multifaceted awareness activities under ‘Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan’

In a major push to foster responsibility among the youth, a series of comprehensive, high-impact activities were organized across multiple educational campuses and public areas in District Shopian under the ongoing 100 Day Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan (NMJKA).

 

The extensive campaign witnessed overwhelming, enthusiastic participation from students, faculty and the public across major focal points including GDC Shopian, GDC Zainapora and Government Polytechnic College Shopian.

 

At GDC Shopian, a vibrant multi-activity programme was held successfully aligning the fight against drug addiction with ecological responsibility. Organized under the supervision of the college Principal, Prof. Tariq Hussain Mir, the institution conducted multiple events simultaneously.

 

Pledge Programme was organized where students and staff solemnly swore to keep their campus and society drug-free and essay writing competition giving a platform to creative and analytical student perspectives on tackling addiction.

 

Simultaneously, GDC Zainapora and Government Polytechnic College Shopian served as another place for youth mobilization. Faculty members at these higher education institutions sensitized hundreds of young students on the socio-economic consequences of substance abuse.

 

Interactive seminars focused on recognizing the early signs of addiction, promoting mental wellness and reinforcing healthy peer networks. Students proactively pledged to act as community ambassadors of change to keep their environments clean and healthy.

 

Taking the anti-drug campaign directly to the grassroots level, a public outreach and mass sensitization drive was held at Bongam Shopian. Local shopkeepers, youth groups and community elders actively participated in localized awareness sessions. Informational materials detailing helpline numbers, rehabilitation options and counseling systems were distributed to ensure a robust community-driven defense framework against drug peddling and abuse.

 

Other departments including School education, Ayush, Sports,Poshan Projects, etc also organised multifaceted awareness activities across the district.
