DC reviews availability of essential drugs, diagnostics; assesses status of ATF facility at GMC Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, MAY 14: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa today convened a meeting with the district and block-level teams constituted for independent verification of the availability of essential drugs and diagnostic facilities across public health institutions, besides reviewing the status of the ATF facility at Government Medical College Udhampur.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh; Assistant Commissioner Development Om Parkash; Chief Medical Officer, Block Medical Officers and other concerned officers.

The Chief Medical Officer briefed the Deputy Commissioner about the availability of essential medicines and diagnostic services in public health facilities across the district, besides presenting the latest status of the ATF facility at GMC Udhampur.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to ensure effective counselling of drug addicts at the block level and intensify awareness campaigns highlighting the ill effects of substance abuse. He instructed the Block Medical Officers to identify drug addicts, sensitize them about treatment facilities and conduct regular counselling sessions to encourage rehabilitation and recovery.

Emphasizing a coordinated approach to tackle drug abuse, the DC stressed the need for sustained public awareness and community participation to build a healthier and drug-free society.
