Nasha Mukt Abhiyan: Series of events held in Ganderbal to aware masses against substance abuse

GANDERBAL, MAY 12: The District Administration Ganderbal, under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyan (NMBA @100), today organised a series of awareness and sensitization programmes across the district to promote the vision of a drug-free society and strengthen public participation against substance abuse.

Under this ambitious initiative, District Level Competitions of Essay Writing, Painting, and Singing were organised with great enthusiasm at BHSS Ganderbal. Zonal toppers from different educational zones of the district actively participated in the district-level event and showcased their creativity and talent.

Through art, writing, and music, students delivered powerful messages against drug abuse and advocated for a healthy and responsible society. Meritorious students securing top positions in various categories were felicitated and appreciated for their outstanding performances. The programme was organised by the Office of the Chief Education Officer Ganderbal in collaboration with the District Social Welfare Office Ganderbal.

As part of the campaign, an awareness programme was organised at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Ganderbal, wherein students from the Faculty of Horticulture, SKUAST-K, along with the staff members of KVK Ganderbal, actively participated. Besides the sensitization session highlighting the harmful effects of drug abuse, a rally was also carried out to spread awareness regarding the importance of building a healthy and drug-free society.

In another significant initiative under NMBA, Urine Drug Screening (UDS) of drivers from the Bus Stand and Sumo Stand of Kangan market was conducted at Sub-District Hospital Kangan in the presence of SHO Kangan.

The programme aimed at ensuring public safety, promoting responsible conduct among drivers, and creating awareness regarding the serious consequences of drug abuse.

Meanwhile, the Department of Cooperatives, District Ganderbal, organised an Anti-Drug Rally at Chountwaliwar Lar with active participation from the students of Baba Mian Nizam-U-Din Cooperative Educational Institute, Chountwaliwar Lar. The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and locals and focused on spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drug addiction while encouraging youth to adopt a healthy and responsible lifestyle.

As part of the district-wide awareness drive, the Animal Husbandry Department Ganderbal also organised awareness programmes at different locations across the district under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan. The programmes were aimed at educating the general public about the ill effects of drug abuse and motivating communities to collectively work towards the creation of a drug-free society.

Also, a semi-weekly rally was organized at Kangan with enthusiastic participation from students, members of the general public, and traders.

The rally raised awareness against the growing drug menace and reaffirmed the collective commitment of the community towards building a drug-free society. Participants voiced strong support for the campaign and pledged to continue their efforts in promoting awareness, responsibility, and social harmony in the fight against substance abuse.

District Administration Ganderbal reiterated its commitment towards intensifying awareness activities under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan and called upon all sections of society, especially youth, to actively contribute towards the mission of a healthy, aware, and drug-free Ganderbal.
